I’m angry. I bought some flowers from interflora for my mum on the internet a few months ago. At the same time some company called http://shopperdiscountsandrewards.co.uk collected my card information and have been charging me £8 a month for no reason. Check your credit card statements and if you see £8 being removed periodically by them call them up and cancel. The woman on the phone was quite friendly and I managed to cancel and get a full refund by getting a bit shirty – beware!
Their phone number is 08082341539

Late additional edit from CMB: This may also show up on a credit card bill as WLI*SHOPPERDISC, either way it’s exactly the same thing!

OMG just read all your comments & I too have sent flowers from Interflora & now charged £8. On top of this someone has got hold of all my details & another £1000 ish has gone off my credit card. I rarely use this card so now have alarm bells ringing incase it is this company. Has anyone else had any probs with their credit card after sending flowers & somehow being signed upto to shoppersdisc? I am mad about this.

i HAVE ALSO JUST FOUND OUT I WAS BEING CHARGED £8 AND FOUND OUT IT WAS A WEBSITE FROM AN EASYJET BOOKING , THEY HAVE NOW REFUNDED IT
Snave – actually – if you read the box above where you insert your email address it’s pretty catagorically clear as to what will happen if you do.
It reads (something like) by entering my email address as my electronic signature and clicking YES I have read and agree to the terms and conditions (which clearly most of you guys hadn’t) and authorise easyJet to pass my name, address AND MY CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD DETAILS to blah, blah, blah….
I read that bit and decided it wasn’t for me.
I feel strongly about this, I used to run a promotional agency and we had similar “opt in” competitions and membership offers, all of which were totally legal, above board and legitimate and people would join without reading and then ring us up and ask us how we slept at night.
Very well thanks…and on a very expensive bed.
;o)
I AM TOTALLY WITH JAMES KENNY ON THIS ONE, THE CHARGE IS MENTIONED ON THE PAGE 4 TIMES FOR HEAVEN SAKES! IF YOU CANNOT READ AT LEAST ONE OF THESE, THEN YOU SHOULD SAVE THE EIGHT POUNDS PER MONTH AND USE IT TO TARGET YOUR ILLETERACY! I DO NOT EXPECT A REPLY FROM ANY OF THE ACADEMICALLY UNFIT POSTERS ABOVE, AS I TOO WOULD BE EMBARASSED IF I SO BLINDLY SIGNED SOMETHING I HADN’T READ. OH, AND IT IS NOT ANY THIRD PARTY PASSING ON THE DETAILS. IT IS THE COMPANY YOU MADE THE TRANSACTION WITH, AND YOU AGREE FOR THEM TO SECURELY TRANSFER YOUR NAME, ADDRESS, AND CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD DETAILS TO SHOPPER DISCOUNTS AND REWARDS. THE CALL TEAM IS NOW IN THE UK AND IS HIGHLY EFFICIENT.
JACK
PS YOU HOT AIR BLOWES ARE NEVER HAPPY, IF YOU ARENT OFFERED A REFUND OR EASY CANCELLATION YOU THREATEN LEGL ACTION BUT WHEN YOU ARE OFFERED EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE YOU DECIDE IT MUST BE DODGY. OPEN YOUR EYES!
Dear JACK and James Kenny
Looking at my credit card statement I discovered that I have just been scammed by Shopper Discounts 0808 234 1539 as I fell for the £10 bogus discount offer from Easyjet. If it weren’t for the internet and google and websites like this it would have taken weeks to find what was going on. I did call Shopper Discounts and they have agreed to repay the £8 they charged. It takes a few days so I will have to wait.
I also spoke to Easyjet customer services who told me bluntly it was all my fault and refused to do anything about it. I am absolutely appalled that Easyjet passed on my credit card details.
JACK for your information I didn’t physically sign anything. I clicked a couple of buttons – maybe I was off my guard – but I have used Easyjet many times – I am shocked that they are allowing a scam like this to go ahead. If I spend over £100 on a couple of flights it is reasonable to think that a £10 discount offer on my next purchase comes without a catch.
James Kenny calls us all morons for falling for the scam then tells us he used to run a promotional agency. I think this sums up the attitude people who work in this industry have for their customers. And JACK seems to know a little too much about the company just to be a blogger with nothing better to do with his life than surf the internet insulting people. You won’t put me off complaining whether I get my money back or not it is still a scam and people should be warned.
I would like to add that i have disontinued the service now, but that this process flowed easily.
hey im 17 and living in the UK and i was just wandering about this so called shopper discount site. i did’t buy any flowers or what have you but i have noticed £8 cumming out of my account for the last two months and i recently noticed that i have been receiving e-mails from the shopper discount site and i was just wandering if anyone knew how to sort it?
Also conned by this when going onto Easyjet site. After booking tickets they had what looked to be an offer on. I did not get the point so I came out of the webpage without agreeing to anything. But got charged the £8 for Shoppers discount?? I will be on the phone to them for refund tomorrow morning….. surprised that Easyjest are associating themselves with this type of scam
I’ve just been ripped off with this too. I never normally get ripped off by signing up to something stupid, I am very analytical person. Frankly, I think their marketing manager should end up in prison for this, it is clear they are deliberately trying to make the terms as complicated as possible so it is more difficult for consumers to realise they will get ripped off. This is surely against the common sense principles of UK law, also I see this thread has been going on for over a year now! With all these complaints, and all these normally savvy careful consumers like us getting ripped off, it’s time for UK government trade agency to A) force them to stop it, and B) fine them heavily as example to them and others.
Some people above praise their customer service for dealing with refund quickly, but this is missing the point. They should not STEAL the money from us in the first place. Well-run companies give you a clearly defined opt-in clause (eg for 8pounds a month get these extra services, tick this box to join), but they are muddying the waters as much as possible, making it impossible for many reasonable people to see that a fee will be charged (for evidence read all the messages in this list) – if that isn’t illegal trading practice in principle, then what the hell is ?? It shows the weakness of the OFT in UK that they have not acted on this company so far.
If anyone else is as angry as I am about this, suggest you protest to:
http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk – that’s what I’m doing now.
Then click Contact Us at top of page, and complain to them about Shoppers Direct. If nobody complains about such things, then in the end, companies end up with more and more license to rip people off without impunity.
I also just emailed the company and told them if I don’t get refund in a week, I will sue them for extra compensation.

Yes, I reckon boycott Interflora as it sounds like they must know what is going on here, playing the innocent indeed, unless they put apology on their website.
Good luck to all, Will Croxford
Yep I”ve been “stitched” by Easyjet too-I wonder if Stellios realises what the cretins now running his company are doing. I have tried writing three letters, the last one to the managing director only to receive letters a 5 year old could make a better job of.I copied Watchdog but they have merely filed it as they have other fish to fry-my latest attempt has been to copy the daily mirror with my correspondence and a printout of a good selection of the complaints on this site.
Let us all keep on at them, surely they are breaching the data protection act by passing on our account details to this shady mob, as well as allowing them access to our email, when we are all under impression we are dealing directly with them.
If anyone knows an Member of Parliament I suggest you draw their attention to the problem and get them to visit this website.Meantime I will avoid flying with Easyjet ( Easyfraud) whenever I can!!!!
The Daily Mirror published an article on page 29 of thursday issue (26/06/08) regarding this scam, hopefully the changes, apparently made in signing-up will help other customers falling into the same trap.As for Jack and his pal James Kenny they speak volumes about the type of smart arse operators the new style business entrepreneur is bringing to this country.
The Mirror also reports that ” Webloyalty” is facing a lawsuit in the USA for taking credit card information without consent. Perhaps that is why they have come here, another source of income before they are closed down over there???
I am usually careful with online transactions to the point of never using my main account details online. So when I paid for EasyJet tickets I used my spare account for payment. Like most people here, these crooks were taking £8.00 out o fthat account for 4 months. I was only alerted by a letter from Halifax saying I had over drawn and was going to get charged.
When I called Shopper Discounts the bloke was only going to refund 2 payments because those were all they had taken from my account. I refused and insisted he checked the history. After a few “pls bear with me” he suddenly discovered other transactions totalling £64!
When you call them, dont just cancel your “membership” but insist on a refund of every penny they stole from you.
Me too. I was turned over by easyJet offering 10 pounds cash back.
I had a similar pop up form photobox appeared pretty seamless and no mention of the charges. After looking up this site I looked up at my profile at the site and noted the charge of £10/month. Called my card & notified them and cancelled my membership at shopperdiscountsandrewards.
Thanks for putting this up here. I just got offered the voucher but I thought I should check before ordering anything.
Same with me !
Every company has thier own policy…what more to say?
It’s deliberately misleading full stop. Of course ppl will say it’s there, yes it is but it’s misleading.
The only reason to not clearly state this is to con ppl, end of story.
For those ppl who say it is clear, you’re not typical web users. You don’t use the web as the majority of ppl do. If a trusted site links you somewhere for a future discount with the same retailer i.e. ebookers for ebookers, pizzahut.co.uk for pizzahut.co.uk – you expect this is a loyalty reward NOT a paid service.
Hopefully, the retailers lose out – for colluding with these “reward” sites.
I got duped by this same thing with Pizza Hut online. I did not realize that they would have passed my details and identity on to other fraudsters. I rarely use my credit card online and I am very wary of the sites that I pass my details to. I think we all need to become more educated about these electronic signatures and the nuances of online marketing. The laws may be very clear but we are clearly not in the know. Time to wise up.
Interflora, FTD, classmates.com, netzero, juno, Mysite and Mypoints are all owned by United Online, so if you use any of those sites you will most likely be “urged’ to use the services of one of the others, particularly mypoints, to earn more for the parent company. Remember – if something looks to good to be true, it probably is & NOTHING IS EVER FREE.
