The Mirror also reports that " Webloyalty" is facing a lawsuit in the USA for taking credit card information without consent. Perhaps that is why they have come here, another source of income before they are closed down over there??? I never normally get ripped off by signing up to something stupid, I am very analytical person. Frankly, I think their marketing manager should end up in prison for this, it is clear they are deliberately trying to make the terms as complicated as possible so it is more difficult for consumers to realise they will get ripped off. This is surely against the common sense principles of UK law, also I see this thread has been going on for over a year now! With all these complaints, and all these normally savvy careful consumers like us getting ripped off, it's time for UK government trade agency to A) force them to stop it, and B) fine them heavily as example to them and others. Some people above praise their customer service for dealing with refund quickly, but this is missing the point. They should not STEAL the money from us in the first place. Well-run companies give you a clearly defined opt-in clause (eg for 8pounds a month get these extra services, tick this box to join), but they are muddying the waters as much as possible, making it impossible for many reasonable people to see that a fee will be charged (for evidence read all the messages in this list) - if that isn't illegal trading practice in principle, then what the hell is ?? It shows the weakness of the OFT in UK that they have not acted on this company so far. If anyone else is as angry as I am about this, suggest you protest to: www.consumerdirect.gov.uk - that's what I'm doing now. Then click Contact Us at top of page, and complain to them about Shoppers Direct. If nobody complains about such things, then in the end, companies end up with more and more license to rip people off without impunity.
